CENTRAL APPLICATION OFFICE PPLICATION PROCESS FOR MULTIPLE UNIVERSITIES 2027: 

 

The Central Applications Office (CAO) is a system used to apply to multiple universities and colleges with one application. It mainly processes applications for universities in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) 

1. Check Universities That Use CAO 

The main universities that accept applications through CAO are: 

  • University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) 
  • Durban University of Technology (DUT) 
  • Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) 
  • University of Zululand (UNIZULU) 

Step-by-Step CAO Application Process 

  Step 1: Prepare Your Documents   

Before applying, you need: 

  • Certified copy of ID or passport 
  • Grade 11 final results or Matric certificate  
  • Email address and cellphone number   

Proof of payment for application fee  

  Step 2: Go to the CAO Website  

Visit: https://www.cao.ac.za 

Then click “Apply” and start a new application.  

  step 3: Create Your CAO Profile  

Fill in your: 

  • Personal details  
  • ID number 
  • Contact details 
  • School information 

After registering, you will receive a CAO number used to track your application.   

Step 4: Choose Courses and Universities  

You can apply for multiple programmes in one application  

Example:  

1. UKZN – Bachelor of Education 

2. UKZN – BA Psychology   

3. DUT – Accounting 

 4. DUT – Business Management  

5. MUT – Engineering 

The order of choices matters, so put your first choice first.  

  Step 5: Upload Required Documents  

Step 6: Pay the CAO Application Fee  

  • Online payment 
  • EasyPay outlets (Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, etc.) 

 Your application is processed after payment.  

   Step 7: Track Your Application 

 After submitting:  

-You receive SMS or email confirmation  

-Universities review your application 

-You get offers or rejection notifications  

You can check your status using your CAO number
