UJ Entry Requirements:

Before you apply to UJ for the 2027 intake, it’s important to understand the eligibility criteria to ensure you meet the necessary requirements. UJ welcomes a diverse range of students, whether you’re coming straight from high school, transferring from another institution, or applying as a mature student. Generally, prospective students must have completed their National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent qualification with the required subject passes and minimum admission points score (APS) as specified by their chosen program. Some courses may have additional requirements, such as specific subject prerequisites, higher APS thresholds, or selection tests. For international applicants, proof of equivalent academic qualifications and language proficiency may be required. UJ Application fee:

The University of Johannesburg charges no application fee for online applications. Paper-based applications require a non-refundable R200 fee.

1.Go to the application website

• Visit the UJ online application HERE
• click on "apply" for first time application

2. Create your student profile

• Enter your personal details (name, ID number, email)
• create password and login details

3. Choose your course(s)

• select up to 2 study choices
• Make sure you meet the APS and subject requirements

4. Upload required documents

• ID/PASSPORT
• Latest school results (Grade 11 or 12)
• Matric certificate (if already completed)

5. Submit your application

• Double check everything
• click submit
• you'll get your student number via email
